Marbert Rocel, the East German indie pop’n’jazz sensation and live band just brought their third album “Small Hours” to life, capturing a deep sense for beats, smoking, songs, indie pop trips including leftfield house- and jazzy affairs. As Groove magazine wrote “…an album finally progressed their own stunning charm into a higher sphere of danceable indie pop”. Well, it’s true, Marbert Rocel music is light and sunny, but they working hard with patience, belief, a lot of cigarettes, and dozens of live gigs around Europe, to spread their charm with passion and a wicked glints in their eyes. There is this lack of pretention in their music which everybody loves, actually people from the techno, soul, jazz or pop worlds even all seems to be convinced. Together with Mathias Kaden, they formed the project Karocel and released the highly acclaimed album “Plaited” on Freude Am Tanzen

Marek Hemmann has grown into the electronic music as a hunter, collector and true connaisseur of tones and sonics. It all began in the beginning of the 90’s with a guitar whose sonic spectrum was far too limited for him. The discovery of the samplers and the synthesizers suddenly opened new possibilities where the acoustic world could be conserved; it was now possible with sound and noise on synthesizers to create what the human ear has never before experienced. The reason for the sonic passion was delivered to him via the techno parties late 90’s in his home area of Gera which was soon a weekly anchor for electronic experimentation. Here was to be found deep and delightful connections with people, rhymes, light and sounds. Until the first live gigs would come just a few years later, he made music for himself and his flat mates. This emboldened him to eventually begin to play his music live, leaving behind self-doubt and found with his first gig his calling as a live act. From then on he refined and improved his sets from which grew the distinctive Marek Hemmann sound; a sound with a minimum on technique but rather a very wide diversity of noise and tonal sensibility. The result is a substantially reduced electronic dance music which having a solid house foundation orbits its original state. Deep bass meets voice fragments, shakers, and percussion carry the rhythm; a funky minimal techno with plenty of space for other musical elements. Always on the search for the perfect groove and catchy melodies which fit snug and comfy in the ear. Since 2005 Marek Hemmann lives in Jena where his home, studio and label are in the immediate vicinity. Here he has the required distance for travel on the weekends, the locale allows for inspiration from the student life, and his creativity to flourish. After innumerable remixes and a handful of singles, in fall 2009 his debut album ‘In Between’ was published on the label Freude am Tanzen.

Philipp Stoya first musical experience started in the well known club "Kassablanca" which is strongly linked to a famous local label, he explored clubs like "Muna", Leipzigs "Distillery", Hamburgs "BaalSaal", Berlin´s "Kleine Reise" or notorious "Berghain",
After his first released track "Triohu" on Compost Black Label #83, Philipp decided to take a little distance from clubbing and get more focused on producing. He lingers this summer at "Fusion Festival" sitting right next to the "Turmbühne" where he thought about what Christian Prommer said: 
"It is not about getting coolness, it´s about to be satisfied with your own production and see how the music reaches the people on a emotional level.“ 
Philipp’s tune „Ransd“ i spart oft he Compost Black Label Series Vol.5 – compilation and he also just delivered some nice remix works for Madpac (Black Label #101) and Siff Licious’ „Fisten“ on the new imprint Glenn Dancer.

As a founder and member of Marbert Rocel, Panthera Krause just started to channel his own immense creative output by releasing his solo debut EP „Yorikke“ earlier this year on Riotvan. Further he´s a talented graphic designer being responsible for the wonderful artworks that decorate the album releases, website, videos etc. of Marbert Rocel and also the Karocel album.

Talski is a young musician/producer from Leipzig (Germany). He was born in 1991 and grew up in a family with an affinity for classical and jazz music, so he began to play the piano and saxophon soon. Now he’s studying music in Leipzig. Besides his work in many bands he produces electronical music, artificially and for the dancefloor. His music is influenced by jazz, classical, house and dark techno music.

When Tobi and Bastian (Heitzberg Theorem) first met they didn’t really like each other. They basically never talked. Why? Years later nobody knows for sure. Working together didn’t make things easier. However one day, when they were forced to spend their lunch together they did talk: as it turned out both were pretty surprised how much alike they felt when it came to music. So they decided to team up and produce a couple of tracks. Bastian (born and raised in Ulm) has a straight forward musical background: he’s an educated Audio Engineer and a Bachelor of Recording Arts. As Bastian, Tobi started early with producing the musical support for his Munich-based poetry label Perplex. After a creative but very frustrating phase of combining their different musical styles (a broad variety from Drum ‘n’ Bass, to House, Techno, UK Garage and Post-Dubstep) they threw all of their initial ideas away and started from scratch. As a result Heitzberg Theorem now concentrates on what’s really important to them: producing bassy, heavy and danceable UK-influenced house music. Both Pete Bandit and Jason Shae have been playing music for over a decade. They got infected with the ‘virus’ after hearing their first tracks over at a friends house and they’ve been ‘sick’ ever since. The first years it was techno, techno and techno. Looking up to guys like Plastikman, James Ruskin and Speedy J, it was understandable that they also made the transition to minimal, or microhouse like it was called back in the 2003 days. Pete Bandit & Jason Shae kept on exploring their own personal tastes of music and playing records was the best way to do so. They found each other in a mix of French funk, Chicago house and stripped down Berlin house. The duo’s fame as DJs is growing larger gig by gig. Stealing the heart of every party freak, bass addict and music lover with a great, steady, rocking groove that takes us back to the Chicago, Miami and New York sounds from the past. Their careers are blooming, but their potentials haven’t fully been used yet; without doubt we will hear a lot more from these two in the following years!
